Florida flood after hurricane Ian september 2022.

Their names were Alicia, Jeanne, Frances and Wilma—and I will never ever forget them.

Alicia scared me terribly, introducing me to her kind and threatening my life for hours when I was only one year out of college. Frankly, she was a real bitch. Twenty-one years later, Jeanne and Frances arrived on my doorstep very close together, and they too were awful. And Wilma? I can now understand why Fred screamed her name so loudly so often back in Bedrock. Wilma was a special kind of nasty. She was also unpredictable and perhaps bipolar.
